Product Description

The claret jug is a wine jug made of glass & sterling silver for claret, which is the British name for French red Bordeaux wine. From the introduction of claret to Britain in 1663 specific vessels began to be designed to contain the wine and let it breathe before drinking.

Asprey’s beautifully crafted claret jug is made from 30% lead crystal with a hallmarked sterling silver integrated collar and handle. The 3 embossed decorative ridges on the collar match with the other wine decanters in the Connoisseur range. The claret jug is perfectly balanced to ensure an optimum pour when the wine is ready to serve. Making an impressive statement piece for the dining table, it is suitable for serving either wine or port.
