Ringo Starr's Chess Set
In 1973 Asprey, with designer Robin Crookshank, created a bespoke chess set for The Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr. Every piece was modelled on Ringo's hands.
English saddle leather backgammon board, with precision dice, counters, dice cups and a doubling cube
Asprey has long been famed for its provision of fine leather games, including Backgammon, Chess and Scrabble. The Hanover collection of games is crafted from fine English tanned leather, produced from the finest European cow hides, in a travel-friendly briefcase format which opens out to provide access to board and pieces. Developed by the Asprey team with professional backgammon players in mind, all elements are tailored to provide a satisfying, tactile gaming experience, including weighted resin stones, precision dice and meticulously hand-finished construction. All elements of the set are made to luxuriously high standards, including leather dice cups, doubling cube and the outstanding finish of the board itself, the extremely smooth surface of which facilitates rapid movement of the counters.
