The Design

The Leigh Jewellery Box collection was inspired by the Asprey jewel case belonging to actress Vivien Leigh. The original was given to her on the opening night of 'A Streetcar Named Desire' at the Aldwych Theatre in London on 12 October 1949. Laurence Olivier, her husband and director of that production, is said to have been the giver of the gift.

Taking its cues from the original piece, the new collection is crafted from highest quality goat leather. Historically known as Morocco Leather, it is supple, soft and very durable, thanks to the high concentration of lanolin in the leather. Our goat leather is produced by the best specialist tannery in France, using the highest quality hides.

The Leigh Jewellery Box features a gently padded leather interior, with all compartments completely fitted out with leather and finished with a cushioned velvet base. The bottom of the box is leather, while the lock and other metal accessories are crafted from solid brass and finished with palladium.

Asprey Moments

This masterpiece of the silversmith's craft was created in the Asprey workshops in the 1980s. Lifelike and exquisitely graceful, it was the pride of the Rosalind and Arthur Gilbert's villa in LA. It has been displayed at London's Victoria & Albert museum since October 2016.
