Margaret Thatcher's Handbags
Margaret Thatcher was famous for her beautiful handbags. Her black Asprey bag was at her side during some of the most important summits with President Ronald Reagan during the 1980s.
The island of Murano in the Venetian Lagoon has been making beautiful glass since the factories of Venice were moved there in 1291 to avoid the danger of fires from the furnaces burning down the mainly wooden buildings in Venice itself. Asprey has collaborated with one of the oldest Murano glass manufacturers on this set of six mouth-blown champagne flutes. Exclusive to Asprey, the coloured stem of each glass is hand-drawn. Stems are in red, aqua, orange, yellow, green and blue. Each flute is entirely hand-created which can lead to slight variations is height and stem thickness.
