Product Care

Made by highly experienced craftsmen and artisans, our leather pieces are created to last a lifetime with the right care.

Leather is an organic material that evolves, changes, softens and patinas over time. All the leathers used by Asprey, full grain and tanned in the most natural and sustainable ways, maintain the visible characteristics of leather such as veins, wrinkles, pores and grain.

These are not flaws, they reveal the skins authenticity and enable the leather to age well.

Exotic species, crocodilians, lizard & python are all protected by the Washington Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).

Exclusive to Asprey all the hardware — clasps, locks, buckles, rings, studs and clips — are made of brass, with the exception of the occasional use of sterling silver. The brass is hand finished & polished, before plating with palladium which has a silvery colour, or fine gold in pale gold, yellow gold, or rose gold.

Following the tips listed here will guarantee your Asprey leather object endures through time.

PROTECT IT FROM WEATHER

Leather is very susceptible to the elements: heat, water, light, oil and any situation that is either too humid or too dry. It needs to be protected from prolonged exposure to strong heat or light which can change the colour. Any water that comes into contact with the leather should be immediately wiped away with a clean dry cloth, which will help to prevent blistering on the surface of the leather. Crocodilians, python and lizard skins are particularly sensitive to humidity and heat, which can irreparably unstick their scales.

PROTECT IT FROM MISHAP

There are some materials that are part of our everyday lives that can leave permanent marks on leather. Examples include ink pens, oily products such as makeup and hand creams, perfumes and spirit-based products. Repeated or close contact with darker materials can damage a leather that is lighter in colour. Finally, leather is very impressionable. Overfilling or prolonged proximity to sharp or angular objects can distort the shape and finish of your Asprey leather product, and close contact with printed material or other leather may result in colour transference

WHEN NOT IN USE

Inevitably there will be times when you are not using your Asprey product. On those occasions, it is best kept in a clean, dry, temperate atmosphere. Asprey handbags are sold with a kid suede soft cushion inside that will hold its shape when not in use, and for all leather products, keeping it in the dust cover or original box will ensure there is no damage.

Anti-humidity sachets are not ideal as they can dry the leather too much.

FINALLY

Commercial care products are not kind to Asprey leather products. Should there be a problem, we recommend you return the piece to Asprey for some expert TLC, using the Asprey after-sales service.
