A HISTORY OF LUXURY

  • SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 1781 ASPREY HAS PROUDLY PIONEERED THE VERY FINEST INDEPENDENT ARTISANS AND WATCHMAKERS. ASPREY INTRODUCED PATEK PHILIPPE TO COLLECTORS AND WATCH CONNOISSEURS IN THE UK AND AROUND THE WORLD.

  • The scrolled Asprey logo adorned dials from the 1950's and 1960's by makers such as Jaeger LeCoultre and Rolex. And those pieces, with time, have become coveted by collectors around the world.

    The yellow gold Patek Philippe 2499 signed by Asprey, the only known example, set a world record in 2018 for the reference when it was sold at auction. So important is the timepiece that it’s often referred to simply as “The Asprey,” its distinct luminous hands also setting it apart from other reference 2499s.

    The hands can also be found in other Asprey signed Patek Philippe watches, such as the magnificent reference 565 which also performed well at auction in 2019.

    More recently, in 2022 an Audemars Piguet 25654PT perpetual calendar Royal Oak in platinum with a copper-brown dial signed by Asprey sold at auction and now holds the world record for any perpetual calendar Royal Oak.

    This lineage of excellence and collaboration continues today with a series of watches with the next wave of leading independent watchmakers.

While working at Patek Philippe in the early 70’s Svend ANDERSEN had the chance to work on the worldtime complication developed by the Geneva based watchmaker Louis Cottier. Mr. Cottier created the first pocket watch in the 30’s and then the first wristwatch with an indication of different timezones.

In commemoration to Louis Cottier’s first worldtime wristwatch, ANDERSEN Genève designed its first worldtime watch in 1989. Since then, ANDERSEN Genève has been developing different series of worldtime watches and “pièces uniques” including this for Asprey. Worldtime watches are part of ANDERSEN Genève’s DNA.
