Asprey’s New ‘Signature A’ Handbag Series

Taking Shape

Three Icons, One Signature

Asprey presents a limited-edition series of three of our iconic handbag silhouettes: The 1781 Pochette, the 1781 Bucket Mini and the 167 Micro Mini. Each is adorned with the new ‘Signature A’ motif and finished in the Inden technique - a raised decorative lacquer pattern created in collaboration with a specialist Japanese Inden atelier.

A Meeting of Minds

In this collaborative fusion of mastery, the motif is expressed through the ancient Inden technique, a Japanese craft tradition dating back to 1582.

Each step of the process remains steeped in in ancient Japanese tradition. Tree sap lacquer (Urushi) is applied by hand to supple leather creating an elegant, decorative yet durable material, which Asprey master artisans then transform into our iconic handbag silhouettes.

The resulting beauty lies in the contrast between the matte texture of suede leather and the refined shine of applied decorative lacquer. This dialogue between finishes gives the intricate ‘A’ depth and sophistication, creating a meaningful link between Asprey’s heritage and an ancestral Japanese savoir-faire.
