Product Description
This Makassar ebony cabinet, number one of a possible limited edition of six, rests on a patinated bronze plinth inlaid with a wraparound burr walnut branch, upon which a vibrant parrot perches, overseeing a jaguar crafted from figured mahogany and Bolivar wood. Inspired by Paul Jouve’s drawings, the jaguar features an emerald green Paua shell eye, with striking mother-of-pearl teeth and tongue. A closer look reveals that the the intricate pattern subtly depicts the jaguar's skeleton.
The cabinet handles are concealed in the Makassar ebony doors, while the interior doors feature patinated bronze retaining rails and Makassar flaps for neat storage on either door. The lockable cabinet interior features a deep purple shagreen bar-top above a drawer that opens from below, revealing a matching purple shagreen tray with patinated bronze handles.
The rich cotton velvet back panel, sourced from Blackpop’s Collector’s Collection, reinterprets archival designs from Sir John Soane’s Museum, is enhanced with Swarovski crystal and metal embroidery. Bold graphic absinthe bottles adorn the interior doors, evoking the ambiance of a wild Art Deco-era soiree. These designs seamlessly extend from the cabinet’s lower bottle storage, guiding the viewer’s eye from tangible spirits to mythical ones.
